Blessed Families is a ministry that facilitates pastoral care for parents and families of LGBTQ+ children.
Our Mission Statement
With the understanding that we are ALL God's children, we strive to live our our love of our Catholic faith while still unconditionally loving and supporting our LGBTQ+ family members. Our mission is to provide a safe and confidential space in which we can share our stories, our faith, offer prayer and gather hope.
We are seeking ways to reconcile our love of our Catholic faith with our unconditional love for our LGBTQ+ family members living as their authentic selves.
We do not... Try to reverse the sexuality of our family members. As a group try to change or criticize Church teaching on sexuality.
To parents of LGBTQ+ children:
Continue to accept and respect your children.
Do everything possible to continue demonstrating love for your child. Seek help foryourself, perhaps in the form of counseling or spiritual direction as you strive for understanding, acceptance, and inner peace.
Take advantage of opportunities for education and support.
Put your faith in God, who is all-loving.
"LGBTQ+ people are not 'children of a lesser God.' He loves them as they are, and He accompanies them in the same way that He does with all of us: being close by, merciful, and tender." Pope Francis
